Born and raised in the bustling suburb of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Corra, the founder of de Cor’s Handmade, graduated from her adopted home of Melbourne, Australia, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computing. Starting with basic jewellery craft in 2007, she quickly moved on to wire jewellery two weeks later and was instantly hooked. Thinking of a way to innovate, she realized that the art of Chinese Knot/Knotting would introduce a certain je ne sais quoi to her creations, and thus began her fascination and passion for creation in this style and medium. Amongst the encouragement that accompanied her first tutorial though, there were some who felt that she should be writing tutorials in her mother tongue, on the narrow minded pretext of there being a glut of tutorials for the English speaking audience. Corra believes art should live naturally and be expressed as freely as breathing, which is why she continue to write and design as much as she could, in as many languages as she can. Today we are presenting Handmade Wire Jewelry here in and from Malaysia, majoring in Wired Chinese Knot/Knotted Jewelry series. Wires taught artist to be humble, Corra gives a short prayer of thanks each time they survive her designs.
